The File manager is used to manage the files uploaded to the website. It is a view into the files within the portal directory for the website. By default the skins and containers directory are not visible.
The File manager is divided into 3 areas:
- a main area divided into two with a folder tree navigation view on the left and a file list with properties on the right in the main area
- Actions in two rows at the top above the main area
- A bottom area showing permission options
Top Action Area
The top action area provides a number of file actions.
The top row is folder based offering the option to create a new folder, navigate to the position at which the new folder should be created first. similarly be first selecting a folder it can also be deleted.
The synchronise files option is used to re-synchronise the file following changes made either by FTP or directory on the computer/server to the file structure within the portal. The recursive checkbox Navigate to the folder in the tree and then click on Synchronize Files to action. By selecting the recursive checkbox the update will occur through all of the child folders of the chosen folder.
The second row is based upon files. There are four standard file actions available, plus the option to refresh the screen presentation and to filter the list of files upon a string.
File Area
Use the navigation area to the left to select either the folder or the files to be enacted upon.
Given a list of files in the file area, it is possible to delete individual items or by ticking the check box at the right of one or more to perform one of the actions from the top area.
Bottom Permission Area
This area is used in conjunction with the synchronise files action. Set the permissions here and then use the Update button to action your choices.
Access for a specific user can be configured by first adding the user, giving a new table with users listed, showing permissions options, similar to the table above.
