Create Gmail Account for Use with Website

A Gmail account can be created to associate with a website.

If you are using Google’s reCaptcha and Analytics then an account dedicated to your website maybe a part of your website strategy. The account provides separation from personal gmail accounts and limiting is to website operations.

The account can be used for

  • Google analytics website visitor analysis
  • ReCaptcha form protection
  • Google drive for website backups
  • Google maps to show business locations

You may wish to consider creating the account with sufficient obscurity. A good number of random characters like a password, which can’t be guessed and isn’t related to the website domain name.

Yes, you’ll login regularly to view the visitor statistics with Google Analytics, but it’s not going to be used to access the email whilst out and about. And you won’t be sharing it. The browser or a password manager can be used to remember the login details.

The space associated with the account can also be used as website backup space, integrated with one of the backup plugins.

To get started navigate to www.gmail.com. Your gmail accounts will be listed there. To create a new account, click “use another account” then “create account”

If you are creating a new gmail account for use with your website then I would recommend a rather random account name that doesn’t use the site name, or yours – its function will be for website protection features and maintenance and making a random account name is harder for anyone trying to second guess what your gmail account is.
