Create Google Map API Key

To incorporate a Google map within your website requires an API key. This is a unique reference which is created within a Google account.

To create an API key login to your Google account from a browser.

Navigate to the page linked below which is the Google developers website.

Complete the agree to terms, decide whether you wish to receive occasional mailings and tick on Agree and Continue.

Give your API a name and if you wish restrict its use. Click on the Create button to continue.

Having created your Google maps API key it can now be used and added as requested within map plugins on your website.

The terms associated with the use of the map API have been changing. Initially there was no restriction. Subsequently if there were too many views of a map used on a page a notice would be shown. In the latest version its a requirement to provide credit card payment details prior to sign-up.
