Facebook: Posting as Page not as Profile

Post as a Facebook company name not as a user

If you are a member of a business or organisation you may wish to post Facebook likes and comments in that capacity.

This promotion of the organisation can also be made by others who are members of the organisation’s Facebook Business page.

Business Page

A dedicated page can be used to provide specific content. The page can be administered by more than one person. Also the page can be used in place of a personal profile., with a few restrictions to use.

Previously covered was creating a Facebook Page for a Business or Organisation and Removing the Numbers at the end of Facebook Page URL for ease of use.

If you wish others to have the ability to comment and post as the organisation (this organisation page) then they can be added. Create a business page and assign users to this.

From the page view from the left hand Manage Page menu scroll down and click on the entry Settings.

From the revised left hand menu click on Page Roles.

Scroll down to the section Assign a new Page role. In the textbox enter the name or email address of the person to be added. The person can be selected from the list. Assign them the role of Editor in the drop down list at the end of the box. Click on the blue Add button.

there is a potential acceptance sequence required if the newly added user isn’t already linked to you as one of your friends.

Other users can similarly be added and just below there’s the option to modify the properties of those already linked, or indeed remove them.

Commenting

From your profile view the posts in your news feed.

Select which one you would like to comment (or like).

To use the Business page rather than your profile this needs selecting

Look to the bottom right of the post. Your profile image will be shown here.

Click on the image to show a popup listing the different profiles which you are able to use. If available select the page profile from the list.

To see whether you are able to post as your page rather than your personal profile look to see whether your profile image is showing.

With the alternative profile page selecting you can go-ahead and comment and like in this guise.

For example look at the news feed entry. In the bottom right hand corner of a post if there is your profile image click on this to open a popup with the option to set how you will interact. Your profile plus any pages will be shown. You can then select your page from the list and then make your comments.

Posting Restrictions

There are restrictions on posting

The post against which you wish to comment must have been made public. Its not possible to write comments to Facebook posts shared by personal profiles

Posts must be visible on your news feed (can be by search)

To comment or like a post or other page the user must be either an administrator or editor of the business page.

To do so within group requires to be registered with group as the page
