Creating and Editing Users

WordPress supports multiple users accounts with roles to govern the actions available to a user and the features which may be viewed.

Click on the Users menu item to view a list of all users on the WordPress website.

Creating and Editing Users List

The table shows a summary of a user with the role assigned to them.

Roles are used to govern actions permitted by a user and pages/posts which may be viewed.

From the Users table click on a user to edit their details. Similarly clicking on the Users menu item Add New will open the same form.

Creating and Editing Users Add New

Complete the users details, or edit an existing users as appropriate.

When creating a new user, it is better to assign a user name which isn’t simply the users name. a little obscurity can make it harder to guess. For example a user having a name of Theresa shouldn’t have a user name of Theresa. Its better to make guessing the user’s login harder by requiring that both fields are guessed.

There are websites on the Internet which will help you create a random password with a mixture of characters.
