To add images to one of your Photo Gallery galleries navigate to the gallery.
The galleries are listed on the Photo Gallery page found on the left hand black menu. Click on the gallery to which you wish to add images.
Shown above is a gallery. At the top is the gallery name, the featured image and the published status. Below the band for associated Advanced options there are options to add an image.
I prefer to add Images by clicking on the blue button. This allows images used within the photo gallery to be maintained within a folder structure reflecting the naming of the galleries. And maybe also the page (plus parent page too perhaps) upon which they will be added.
There is an option to import from the media library. However, doing so adds all images under the same folder called imported_from_media_library. Not as clear to work with as a folder structure reflecting the gallery naming and associated pages.
The above image shows some images of swans added to a folder called Swans, below one called Birds.
Above are the uploaded photos of swans. At the right hand side are textboxes for the alt text and description.
I like to rename images used on a website to reflect their purpose. In this case I would name P10501067 something like mute-swan-december-2023-linear-park-calcot.jpg.
The alt-text should be descriptive without being overly long. It’s there to be used by screen readers to describe the image for someone who is visually impaired. And it’s used by the search engines.
Provide a description. It may well not be too dissimilar to the image title and alt-text.
Multiple images can be added all at once although I prefer to add singularly ensuring that each has been uploaded and registered with the site.
The gallery has the option to optimise your uploaded images. To improve website speed action this when you are ready.
