A Linux upgrade caused a database connection failure error for MythWeb.
The MythWeb page was replaced by one simply showing a white box with the message ‘Database Error‘.
During the update the option was presented to accept the package maintainer’s version of the Apache configuration file. I had accepted to replace the Apache settings.
The solution was to re-define the Server Name in the file
/etc/apache2/apache.conf
At the end of the file the name of the server is added. If you are running the server on a local network it may not have a fully qualified domain name FQDN. The IP address of the external network card can be used as an alternative, for me this amendment was:
servername “192.168.1.100”
