DotNetNuke has a number of projects providing facilities such as Links, FAQs and Events.
These core projects aren’t installed by default. This allows the development of the individual projects and the core DotNetNuke CMS to progress at different rates, with no item waiting on the others for release.
Including only a bare set of modules, allows the DotNetNuke website installation to be customised with modules added to provide specific features. Only those modules which are to be used are then installed.
Alternative modules can be installed from sources such as the DNN store and the DNN Codeplex website.
On the DNN Codeplex web page scroll down to show the available projects at the right hand side of the page.
Click on the link for the project which you wish to install and on the following project page click on the large download box at the right. Save the file locally.
Return to your website and navigate to the host/extensions page.
To install the module click on the button Install Extensions Wizard. This will open a pop-up window at the start of the install sequence.
Follow the sequence clicking on next to each subsequent page and accepting the terms of the module by ticking the checkbox.
After the last step there is a pause whilst some aspects of the underlying framework are re-built. The browser will take a while to return to the list of installed modules.
Once the module has been installed you can navigate to the page where it is to be added. Click on the Modules menu item and select Add New Module.
From the row of modules select and drag the chosen module onto the page into the highlighted content area. Alternatively if you hover over the top right corner of a module a small arrow cross will appear and a drop down list of available content areas. Select the one you wish the module to be added to.
