My aim was to create a video of holiday photos.
The video should sequence through a series of photos. A transition between each photo, with an effect, such as Ken Burns, when viewing each. Some background music would be a bonus.
After some searching I found the programme Photo Film Strip.
The program is available for Linux, MAC and Windows.
On the opening page select to add a new project.
Along the bottom is the film strip. You can drag images from a directory into the strip. Place them in the sequence as you wish.
Images in the film strip can be dragged into their new position or there are arrows to move the selected image, left or right.
In the main part of the screen are shown two views of the selected image. On the left at opening and to the right the ending view.
Select the part of the image to be viewed for start and end. The duration of the transition can be set. As can the transition to the other images in the sequence.
Once your film strip is prepared it can be saved for viewing.
Options are the quality and either MP4 or mov standards. There’s also an option to select the size of video.
I found that by default the MP4 export was not viewable on Windows. I didn’t ask those trialling to install VLC. Perhaps this would work for you.
The project’s website is to be found at www.photofilmstrip.org.
